ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Acousmatic & Musique Concrète Sound Design for UVI Falcon
What does artificial intelligence sound like?
Artificial Intelligence is a collection of machine-like sounds with an organic character. Some are repetitive, mechanical and systematic. Others appear to breathe, evolve and communicate through strange sonic patterns.
The library contains both tonal and atonal material, with recognizable rhythmic structures, microscopic sonic events and continuously evolving textures.
A substantial part of the sound design is created through granular synthesis, with additional sounds mostly generated through noise generators and wavetable synthesis.
Most sounds are BPM-synchronized with intricate use of the multi envelopes and can be varied in speed while maintaining synchronization, making them suitable for rhythmic sound design as well as experimental music production.
The aesthetics and inspiration draw from the experimental traditions of Pierre Schaeffer, Iannis Xenakis, Bernard Parmegiani and Francis Dhomont, as well as the contemporary experimental electronic language of Autechre.
With this library, I want to approach the idea of artificial intelligence from both a subjective artistic perspective and a more literal sonic interpretation. The sounds imagine what an intelligent machine, its processes, its internal activity and its attempts to communicate might actually sound like.
Artificial Intelligence is designed for sound designers, electronic music producers, composers, film and game creators, and experimental artists looking for unusual sonic material with a distinctive character.
Note:
The presets are heavily based on carefully designed and selected experimental WAV sound sources, which are included with the library and can also be used beyond Falcon in other samplers, DAWs and sound-design workflows.
Artificial Intelligence is sound design for imagining the recognizable unknown. / Leap Into Void.
